• You are Never Too Old for Great Vision

Just because you’re getting older doesn’t mean you have to slow down due to poor vision. You are still able to dance up a storm, and love those biking and hiking trips. It’s not time to admit to any “golden years” just yet. If you think poor vision might be holding you back from getting the most out of your later years, please read on below.

    Don’t Settle

You are not one to settle for less than perfect, so why accept impaired vision. Today, there are multiple ways to correct your vision, regardless of your age. Whether you are in your late forties, your fifties, sixties, or beyond, there is a method to improve your vision so you can enjoy everything you might be missing, without reading glasses, driving glasses, progressive lenses, and contacts.

As we age, certain changes take place in our bodies. That’s why we need more sleep, and why we can’t necessarily do the physical activities we used to do quite so easily like when we were 20 or even 30. The same thing happens to our vision.

    Mid-Life Fix: Near Vision Treatment

Just as our muscles change over time, so do the muscles in our eyes, especially the muscles surrounding the crystalline lens. We are easily able to change focus when we are younger to look from a hand held device or book, to across the street to see a friend. This is not so easy once we reach our late forties and fifties. The muscles become less flexible, and we can no longer accommodate and change focus without giving it a second thought. This is called presbyopia, and it affects everyone.

At Sarnia Eye, Esthetics & LASIK Clinic, we believe you are never too old for great vision. We provide an effective solution for presbyopia through the KAMRA Inlay procedure. This advanced technology is available to correct near vision problems, and can even help those who had LASIK in their twenties and thirties, but are now beginning to need near vision correction.

A tiny ring is inserted under your cornea and over your pupil. It is invisible, and will immediately improve your near vision.

The benefits of the KAMRA Inlay include:

    • It is a safe and stable procedure.
    • It will maintain your depth perception unlike other procedures.
    • It is fully reversible.
    • KAMRA Inlay will correct both your near and intermediate vision.

    Cataracts and Refractive Lens Exchange

Another natural part of aging is the development of cataracts. This will happen to most people at some point in their later years.

A cataract is the clouding of your natural lens. It makes simple tasks like reading, driving, and distinguishing colours much more difficult. Unless it is removed, it can severely limit your vision.

If you already have cataract development, you can improve your vision at Sarnia Eye Esthetics & LASIK Clinic by having the cataract removed and replaced with an intra-ocular lens (IOL). No need for reading glasses. No need to limit your activities.

If you don’t yet have a cataract, you can still have improved vision by opting for a Refractive Lens Exchange. With this advanced procedure your clear lens is replaced with a new lens which will change your focusing power. With a simple fifteen minute procedure, you can have the vision you once had, and, you will have it for life.

    The LASIK Option

If you meet our prescreening requirements, LASIK might be the right procedure for you. Custom Bladeless LASIK is the most advanced form of LASIK surgery available today. Changing the shape of your cornea with a laser can be the solution for many patients, at many different ages.

Until you visit us and undergo a complete eye evaluation, we won’t know which of our advanced surgical solutions is right for you. During your evaluation, your options will be outlined in detail, and all your questions answered.

Whatever age you are, and whatever method you choose, be assured that you will have the best technology and treatment available. So don’t settle. Free yourself from any obstacles, because you are NEVER too old for great vision!

If you or someone you know could benefit from clear, unobstructed vision, please give us a call. We’d be happy to meet with you and discuss your options.

I’m glad you mention how common it is to get cataracts as you get older and how you can get them removed so that you don’t have to limit your activities. This would be a great way to ensure you have good vision and can do what you love. Once you’ve decided to get treatment for your cataracts, you’d probably want to research the different eye specialists in your area and meet with them so you can make sure they offer the treatment you need to keep your vision. In order to do this, you’d probably want to research online and check out the websites of the local services.
